The Institute began offering formal degree courses at Bachelors, Masters and Doctoral levels in Food Process Engineering from 2009-10 academic year onwards and M. Tech in Food Science and Technology since 2014.
In B. Tech program 60 students are admitted every year (admission through JEE), the institute admits 20 students each in the M.Tech. programs (admission through IIFPT entrance test and oral examination) and 10 in the Ph.D. program (admission through IIFPT entrance test and oral examination).
IIFPT sends undergraduate students for short term exposure and graduate students for long term research training to reputed international institutions.
Seven batches of M.Tech. students and five batches of B. Tech students have already graduated from IIFPT. Half of the passed out students joined for higher studies in reputed international institutions and in top ranked national institutions and remaining 50% students are placed in top food processing industries as well as in Govt. Institutions/organizations.
IIFPT allows students from other institutions to carry out their M.Sc. and M.Phil. degree research projects for a period of two to six months under the guidance of IIFPT faculty members.
